Jose Mourinho has been accused of many things over the years.
A manager as controversial as the Special One is bound to attract critics and it was almost inevitable that his decision to cut some of the dead wood from Manchester United’s squad would upset a few people.
Bastian Schweinsteiger is the most high-profile name to be culled from the first team, so naturally, a lot of attention is being paid to the fact that he has to now train with the reserves.
Seems harsh? Wait until you here what FIFpro Slovenian member Dejan Stefanovic has to say about the debacle, via Sky Sports.
“It’s clear bullying. In Slovenia, we would have indicted Mourinho and asked for the highest penalty – three years in prison.”
Wow. Schweinsteiger’s legion of supporters back in Germany are bound to be outraged by Mourinho’s treatment of the World Cup winner, but even they might think demanding a prison sentence is a little extreme.
Mourinho has been charged with getting United back to where they belong at the top of the Premier League table and to do that, he was always going to have to make some changes.
Schweinsteiger isn’t even that big a change, as the impact he made at the club was limited. If he got his manager doing time, though, that’d be one way to be remembered at Old Trafford for years to come.
