Christian Eriksen has rejected a new contract offer from Tottenham, according to the London Evening Standard.
The Denmark international might be a pivotal part of Mauricio Pochettino’s front three, but he is reportedly looking for wages of around £80,000 a week, something which Spurs are reluctant to offer.
The situation shouldn’t be cause for alarm, as players often reject clubs’ first offers and Spurs will surely come back with an improved deal.

With Pochettino having committed his long-term future the club, it was expected that many of his star players would follow suit, but that hasn’t been the case.
Hugo Lloris also turned down a contract extension prior to the Euros, though there is no indication that he actually wants to leave.
Understandably, however, Eriksen is well aware of his worth and wants to join the list of highest earners at White Hart Lane, which in fact includes Lloris.
The playmaker created 13 assists last season, scoring six goals. He joined from Ajax three years ago in a £11million as a promising youngster, which explains his relatively low wage of around £30,000 a week.
According to the same source, Juventus had been interested in bringing him to Serie A few months back, but even though that’s no longer on the cards, Spurs will be well aware that he will have plenty of suitors.
Chairman Daniel Levy is keen to keep the budget in check with the new stadium now just two years away from completion, but this is one deal he may have to relent on.
