Carlos Tevez’ links to the Premier League continue, but it appears there’s little credence in the latest rumours linking the Argentinian with Chelsea.
The former West Ham, Manchester United, and Manchester City striker was recently asked to return to Upton Park, but had a disagreement with the Hammers over salary.
Now, he claims he had the option to join Chelsea this summer, but turned the Blues down in favour of staying with his current club Boca Juniors, as per the Sun.
It’s no surprise Chelsea came calling, as new manager Antonio Conte worked with Tevez at Juventus.
Napoli are also interested, however, as they see the 32-year-old as a strong replacement for his compatriot, Juve-bound Gonzalo Higuain.
It seems Tevez’ intention is to stay with Boca until he retires, though his wage demands in the West Ham negotiations suggest there is one factor that might tempt him further afield.
Chelsea have already signed Michy Batshuayi up front, but Conte needs as strong a squad as possible if he is to turn the Blues back into title contenders.
Tevez won’t be a part of that, but perhaps it’s best for Conte to start a more long-term building project, rather than bringing in players already in their thirties.
