Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has firmly dismissed suggestions he could leave the club to take over Argentina.
His native country are on the lookout for a new boss after the departure of Gerardo Martino, who quit after another final defeat in the Copa America.
Argentina are keen to appoint a world-class coach, with Atletico Madrid’s Diego Simeone also being linked.
It looks as if they won’t be getting Pochettino anytime soon, however, with the Spurs manager telling reporters in Melbourne:
“I think the speculation is normal because I am an Argentinian coach at a top club in England.
“There are a lot of rumours that appear in the media but I am happy at Tottenham and for that reason, this is not the right moment.”
Spurs will be desperate to hold on to the 44-year-old, who guided them to a third-placed finish last season after taking the title race to the last few weeks.
Improving on that this coming campaign is going to be difficult, especially with Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho in charge of the two Manchester clubs, but if Spurs are to have any chance at another title, it’s essential they keep their in-demand Argentinian in the White Hart Lane hot seat.
