Clinton N’jie is attracting interest from Lyon as his summer of uncertainty continues, according to French publication L’Equipe.
A string of injuries last season meant the Cameroon forward struggled to settle at White Hart Lane in his debut campaign, which has led to speculation that he could be on the move.
Unconfirmed reports in France had suggested Arsenal had also sounded Spurs out about a possible deal, but their advances were understandably rebuffed by their bitter rivals.
Lyon is a far more likely destination, particularly as it’s where Mauricio Pochettino signed the player from.
And Lyon side could still make a profit on N’jie. He joined Spurs for €14 million a year ago, but they may struggle to recoup that fee, though that means it’s possible he could only leave on loan.
Nonetheless, there is still a chance that N’jie will stay and fight for his place. Competition will be fierce in Tottenham’s attack, particularly with new signing Vincent Janssen adding to Harry Kane and Heung Min-Son.
It’s going to be difficult for the misfit striker to stake his claim, but with the club in four competitions next season, Pochettino is going to need all the help he can get.
