Jose Mourinho issues warning to Juventus

Jose-Mourinho

Jose Mourinho has warned Juventus that he will start to consider other transfer targets if they do not co-operate over the Paul Pogba deal.

The French midfielder looked all set to move back to Old Trafford in a world record deal, believed to be around £100million, but the Italian club are continuing to stall.

That has led the United manager to suggest there are two other players who he could bring in should the 23-year-old’s move fall through.

“We know the profile of the player we want and we have three faces that fit that profile,” said Mourinho, as per the Daily Mirror.

It’s thought that Paris Saint-Germain midfielder and Pogba’s international team-mate Blaise Matuidi is one of the alternative targets, while Mourinho will also consider a bid for Nemanja Matic, whom he worked with at Chelsea.

Either of those would cost considerably less than Pogba, though ironically, it’s understood Matic is also being eyed by Juventus in case they lose their main man.

United are expected to make one, or at most two more signings as they launch their assault on the Premier League next season with a reinvigorated, new-look squad.

In truth, Mourinho has already improved the first team so much that they may thrive even without Pogba. With him, there’s every chance they could be unstoppable.
