David Moyes could finally be about to get his shot at Premier League redemption, with widespread reports suggesting he is the favourite to take over from Sam Allardyce at Sunderland.
With Allardyce set to take over as England manager, the Black Cats are on the hunt for a new man in charge.
The Daily Mail report that Moyes has already been approached about the soon-to-be vacant role at the Stadium of Light, despite struggling in his two most recent managerial roles.
The 53-year-old was sacked by Manchester United towards the end of his first season in charge, and endured a tough spell at Real Sociedad before departing the Spanish side in November of last year.
Moyes has been out of work since then, though it’s understood he’s had plenty of offers.
Sunderland fans will be keeping a close eye on developments, but United fans will certainly be interested to see how their former boss fares back in the top flight of English football.
A fantastic stint at Everton was what got Moyes United’s top job in the first place, but Sunderland, a club with relatively low expectations other than avoiding relegation, could perhaps be the perfect place for him to redeem himself.
