Chelsea will have to find another midfield target after Andre Gomes completed a £41.7million move to Barcelona, as per Sky Sports.
The Portuguese star has left Valencia after a fine season, which of course culminated in winning Euro 2016 with the national side.
The 22-year-old is almost the complete midfielder, able to press forward and also get back and tackle.
That would have made him perfect for Chelsea, particularly as new boss Antonio Conte could have worked him into his ingenious tactical system fairly easily.
Gomes was thought to be an alternative to Belgian Radja Nainggolan, who has snubbed a move to Stamford Bridge in favour of staying with current club Roma.
The only area of the midfielder’s game that really needs improving is his goalscoring, finding the back of the net just three times in La Liga last season.
Gomes becomes Barca’s fourth summer signing alongside Samuel Umtiti, Denis Suarez, and Lucas Digne.
