Chelsea are believed to be targeting Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani.
That’s according to Le 10 Sport, who report that the Blues are set to bid £41.5million for the Uruguayan.
If manager Antonio Conte has been trying to calm fans’ fears that Diego Costa is leaving Stamford Bridge, this certainly isn’t helping.
Chelsea are understandably set for a summer clearout, with Loic Remy expected to depart and Falcao having already returned to Monaco. However, Costa prefers to play as a lone striker, so Michy Batshuayi’s arrival from Marseille has already cast doubt on the Spain international’s future.
Signing Cavani would surely spell the end of Costa’s time at Stamford Bridge as his former club Atletico Madrid continue to circle.
PSG may be reluctant to let him go after Zlatan Ibrahimovic joined Manchester United, as they hoped Cavani would take his place as their main man up front.
However, Chelsea are keen to bring him in as a cheaper alternative to Romelu Lukaku or Alvaro Morata, both of whom are likely to cost in excess of £60million.
