Manchester United striker James Wilson is poised to join Fulham.

The Sun are reporting that the 20-year-old is set for another season-long loan after failing to impress Jose Mourinho enough in pre-season.

All the indications are that the youngster is now set to leave after being left out of Mourinho’s squad for the club’s tour of China.

It’s a familiar feeling for Wilson, who featured just twice under Louis van Gaal and he may well feel he isn’t being given enough of a chance to prove himself at United.

There will also be a lot of fans left disappointed by his anticipated departure, as the arrival of veteran superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic has seen him slip further down the pecking order.

United fans are anxious Mourinho isn’t going to give youngsters, perhaps other than Marcus Rashford, a fair crack of the whip.

However, the manager does need to cut down the numbers in his squad, and Wilson is an unfortunate casualty of that process.

Having scored just five goals in 27 games for Brighton last season, he isn’t making enough of a case for himself.

In the weekend’s friendly against Wigan, the forward was given 45 minutes in a last ditch attempt to show what he could do, but after being hauled off at half-time, it seems that was his last chance.
