Chelsea are now favourites to sign Alvaro Morata, according to the Sun.
Only recently, Real Madrid insisted they would now keep the Spain international, but it appears Blues boss Antonio Conte isn’t ready to give up just yet.
Morata would cost around £50million, with Los Blancos hoping to make a big profit after re-signing him from Juventus.
Zinedine Zidane’s failure to sign Paul Pogba has left Real reluctant to let one of their big name players go, but Chelsea may come back with a bid regardless to see if Morata’s head can be turned.
The 23-year-old is insistent on playing first team football and it could be difficult for Zidane to promise that.
Conte, on the other hand, will give him assurances of his importance to Chelsea’s new project.
Michy Batshuayi, another striker, and N’Golo Kante have already arrived at Stamford Bridge this summer, but Morata’s signing would trump them both as the biggest indication yet that Chelsea are going to be serious contenders again next season.
