Manchester United remain set to sign Paul Pogba, but Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane has added fuel to the fire by admitting his admiration for the superstar.
Madrid last week admitted they would not be buying the 23-year-old because of the £100million being demanded by Juventus, a development which left United as the only club still chasing him.
However, speaking to the press in Real’s pre-season tour, manager Zinedine Zidane said, as quoted by Sky Sports.
“Do I like Pogba? Of course, he’s a very good player and every club wants the best players, but right now he’s at Juve and we have a large squad already.”
Initially, it appeared Zidane was hinting that Los Blancos were still interested in Pogba, but it’s hugely unlikely any deal would happen unless Juve miraculously lowered their asking price, something they won’t do while talks with United continue.
If the Frenchman doesn’t move to Old Trafford, it now seems more probable that he would stay in Turin, as opposed to moving to La Liga.
Real are now set to keep hold of Alvaro Morata instead to ensure they have enough attacking options next season.
