After almost a year at Liverpool, it appears Jurgen Klopp has finally made his decision on which players are good enough to be a part of his revamped squad.
The Reds boss may have selected 39 different players across all competitions, but according to the Mirror, he has now identified six that have no future in his squad.
There are very few surprises in there, with Mario Balotelli arguably the most high-profile name to be heading for the exit.
The Italian spent last season on an unsuccessful loan stint at AC Milan, but scored just once. His volatile reputation also made it unlikely that Klopp would want to keep him.
Meanwhile, any last hopes Christian Benteke had of fighting for his place look to be over, with the Belgian striker being told to find a new club.
Those two potential departures mean Klopp may want to bring in another striker in addition to Sadio Mane, though Balotelli’s absence would be felt the least.
Lucas Leiva could be sold to Besiktas, while Adam Bogdan, Tiago Ilori, and Lazar Markovic are also preparing to face the axe.
A thorough overhaul of Liverpool’s squad is long overdue, and in truth, it’s surprising it’s taken the club this long to do it.
