Juventus are considering Chelsea midfielder Nemanja Matic as a replacement for Paul Pogba, according to ESPN.
The source is reporting that the Italian giants are confident of bringing in the out-of-sorts one-time Blues talisman, and they will certainly have the funds at their disposal once Pogba has joined Manchester United in a £100million deal as anticipated.
Chelsea’s capture of Frenchman N’Golo Kante has all but signalled the end of Matic’s time in west London.
The two players had vastly different campaigns last season, with Kante leading Leicester to the Premier League title, while Matic’s loss of form was in itself instrumental in Chelsea’s demise.
Juve have previously enquired about the Serbia international, but Chelsea were reluctant to sell him until they knew they were definitely signing Kante.
Matic is expected to cost just £15million, which is a remarkably good price considering how he can play when he’s at his best.
Chelsea weren’t able to get him to perform to that level last season, but if Massimiliano Allegri can help him rediscover his peak form, he could be a real bargain buy for Juve.
