Leicester to offer Chelsea target Kante huge new deal

Leicester hope to keep Chelsea target N’golo Kante by offering him a new deal worth over £100,000 a week, according to the Telegraph.

The Frenchman was instrumental in the Foxes’ title triumph last season and that has led to plenty of attention in the transfer market.

Kante himself has given little away about whether he will stay at the King Power stadium, but Leicester are now hoping to make the first move by offering him a hugely improved contract.

The midfielder has so far rejected one offer of £100,000 a week, which would have already made him the best-paid player in the club’s history.

Instead of conceding defeat, Leicester will now offer even more.

Manager Claudio Ranieri has urged his star players to stay in the East Midlands and it has already worked with Jamie Vardy, who turned down a move to Arsenal.

Antonio Conte is similarly desperate to have Kante among his troops next season, but Chelsea can no longer offer Champions League football, something which Leicester can.

The 25-year-old was impressive for France at Euro 2016, so Leicester will now face an anxious wait to see whether his latest success will see him move away.
