Wolfsburg are ready to sell Arsenal target Julian Draxler, according to the Mirror.
The Gunners are desperate to sign the Germany international, who is valued at £55million.
The Bundesliga side are now reluctantly going to allow the striker to leave because their failure to secure Champions League football next season has caused their sponsors to cut back funds.
The 22-year-old is their most valuable asset so he could be the answer to their financial problems.
Draxler has also expressed a strong desire to play European football and that is something Arsenal have consistently offered for the last two decades.
£55million for any player is usually way out of Arsene Wenger’s price range, but this transfer market is very different.
Ideally, Wenger would like not to be drawn into the inflated prices of this window, but unless he can find another top international striker on the cheap, he may have no other option.
Arsenal have shown in the past they can splash out when needed, bringing in Mesut Ozil for £42million from Real Madrid.
Wenger will need to evaluate whether he thinks Draxler is in that league of player before breaking the club’s record to bring him to the Emirates.
