Tottenham target Mauro Icardi will not be sold by Inter Milan this summer, according to the Nerazzurri’s sporting director.
Piero Ausilio told the assembled press, as quoted by ESPN:
“Icardi signed a new contract a year ago, we’ve made him our captain and he’s not for sale. Anything else is just talk.”
The forward has long been linked with a move to Spurs after scoring 16 goals and making 4 assists in Serie A last season.
There has been some confusion surrounding the 23-year-old, not least because of his wife’s comments which suggested Inter wanted to sell their skipper.
However, Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino won’t be too downhearted by the news, as the Lilywhites have now officially announced the signing of Vincent Janssen from AZ Alkmaar.
With Harry Kane, Heung Min-Son, Clinton N’jie, and now Janssen in attack, Spurs don’t really need Icardi as well.
And if the player’s dispute with Inter continues, there’s every chance he may be available next summer.
