Newcastle put crazy price tag on Arsenal target Sissoko

Moussa Sissoko’s potential move to Arsenal looks unlikely now after Newcastle slapped a £35million price tag on the wantaway striker, according to the Newcastle Chronicle.

Magpies fans will be bewildered at that valuation of a forward who scored just 1 goal in 37 appearances last season, as per WhoScored.

Sissoko is essentially being priced out of a move because no-one in their right mind is going to pay that sort of money for him.

The 26-year-old did impress by shining for France in the final of Euro 2016, which they of course lost 1-0 to Portugal.

And on the final day of last season, he put in a man-of-the-match display in the 5-1 shock win over Tottenham, clearly relishing the chance to put himself in the shop window on both occasions.

However, apart from those two games, Sissoko has done very little else to be worth that figure.

Chairman Mike Ashley is emphatically and transparently trying to deter any suitors as Manager Rafael Benitez would like him for the upcoming Championship campaign.

Andros Townsend has already departed for Crystal Palace, so the north-east outfit can’t afford to let too many of their key men leave. At least with that price tag, they can be sure Sissoko isn’t going anywhere.
