Arsenal rejected several bids for Olivier Giroud

Arsenal have rejected several bids for striker Olivier Giroud already this summer, according to the Mirror.

The French international has performed surprisingly well at Euro 2016 for the host nation, despite being widely mocked for his slow run through on goal in the semi-final against Germany.

The 29-year-old is earning a new-found respect across European football, and while it is unclear which clubs have come in for him, it’s pretty evident that Arsenal have no intention of letting him go.

After all, the Gunners’ priority this transfer window is signing a striker, so letting one go would be unforgivable.

It’s understood that Arsenal actually received the bids towards the end of last season, despite Giroud going 15 games without scoring at one point.

At the time, Arsene Wenger may have considered letting him go, but the club have now changed their tune.

Part of Giroud’s problem at Arsenal may have been a lack of support up front, with youngster Alex Iwobi yet to establish himself and Danny Welbeck continuing to struggle with long-term injury.

Wenger is likely to continue his pursuit of Alexandre Lacazette, and if he is successful in bringing him in, Arsenal could finally have a formidable attack once again next season.
