Tottenham are expected to complete the signing of Vincent Janssen within 48 hours, with the Mirror reporting that the Dutch striker has rejected moves to Paris Saint-Germain and West Ham.
Spurs will be delighted to have secured early bragging rights over their London rivals ahead of the Premier League, while they will also be proud that Janssen has turned down the French champions’ big money in favour of a move to White Hart Lane.
The Holland international, who scored on his debut against England last year, is expected to move in a £16million deal, with Spurs finally caving to his current club AZ Alkmaar’s demands for more money.
Given that the player is so keen to wrap up the deal, personal terms should be a formality and he will then become Mauricio Pochettino’s second signing of the summer after Victor Wanyama arrived from Southampton.
West Ham can be proud of their ambition in bidding for the same players as Spurs and PSG, but ultimately, it is going to be very difficult for them to attract them without Champions League football.
Tottenham’s prestige has increased massively over the last year, and evidently, it is already paying off.
