Zlatan Ibrahimovic has finally confirmed he will become a Manchester United player next season after announcing the move on social media.
If it was supposed to be a secret before, the Sweden striker certainly wasn’t doing a very good job of keeping it, but he has now paved the way for United to officially unveil him.
Sky Sports are reporting that the deal won’t be officially completed until ‘Ibra’ undergoes a medical, but the club have hinted it is as good as done by announcing a pre-season friendly in his native Sweden.
Ibrahimovic will once again team up with manager Jose Mourinho, under whom he won the Champions League at Inter Milan.
And Mourinho will be hoping he brings that winning mentality to Old Trafford.
The forward has an unbelievable record of having already won trophies in four different countries – though, of course, that is also an achievement boasted by Louis van Gaal.
While Ibrahimovic is now 34, any fears that he could be past his best will surely be allayed by his record for Paris Saint-Germain last season, when he scored 52 goals.
If he can bring half of that to United, he will have been one of the signings of the season, particularly as he isn’t costing a penny.
