Tottenham are interested in Iceland hero Ragnar Sigurdsson, according to the Guardian.
The centre-back, who plays in the Russian Football Championship, shot to global prominence with a man-of-the-match performance in Iceland’s shock 2-1 win over England and he could now be set for a move to the Premier League.
German sides Schalke and Wolfsburg are also keen on him, but it is believed he would snub either of those for the chance to play in the English top flight.
Spurs may have to battle Leicester for the player, as the champions are also interested, according to the same source.
Leicester may want to bolster their defence as they look forward to their first ever Champions League campaign, while in the same vein, Spurs want cover for regular centre-back pairing Jan Vertoghen and Toby Alderweireld.
Kevin Wimmer is currently providing that back-up, while Eric Dier can also play in defence, so that raises the question of how much game time Sigurdsson would actually get if he moved to White Hart Lane.
He may want to consult international team-mate and namesake Gylfi Sigurdsson, who left Tottenham two years ago after struggling to nail down a place in the first team.
Ragnar Sigurdsson is a surprise target for Spurs, but if he plays like he did against England regularly, then he could be a superb one.
