Vincent Janssen is growing frustrated by AZ Alkmaar rejecting Spurs’ advances, according to Sky Sports.
“Tottenham Hotspur have made a high bid in my eyes. There has been an offer around €18m (£14.9m), but AZ will not even come to the table”, said the Dutch striker.
Spurs have been pursuing the striker for a number of months and have made an official bid, but Alkmaar are holding out for more for the highly-rated youngster.
Janssen, who has already earned a reputation as the ‘next Ruud van Nistelrooy’, scored 27 goals in 32 appearances in the Eredivisie last season.
Mauricio Pochettino wants to add him to his attack and has opted for Janssen instead of Michy Batshuayi, who is joining Chelsea, because of the Belgian’s hefty price tag of around £33million.
With the development of their new stadium underway, Spurs are unwilling to pay over the odds for young players, so Janssen is a far more suitable target.
Understandably, though, with just two weeks to go until pre-season training gets underway, he is eager to be officially announced as a Spurs player sooner rather than later.
