Michy Batshuayi has moved a step closer to signing for Chelsea after passing a medical.
Sky Sports are reporting that the Belgium international is expected to complete a move worth £33million in the next few days, having been given special permission by boss Marc Wilmots to leave his Euro 2016 camp and meet Chelsea’s team doctor in Bordeaux.
With no obvious concerns about his fitness, he has passed the medical without any issues and is now a step closer to being confirmed as a Chelsea player.
Batshuayi was wanted by a number of Premier League clubs, with West Ham and Crystal Palace making bids and Spurs hovering continuously, keeping an eye on the situation, but ultimately unwilling to front up the big money.
The forward scored 17 goals that were credited with keeping Marseille in Ligue 1 last season, so it’s no wonder he’s in such demand.
Diego Costa typically plays up front for Chelsea on his own, so it seems that Batshuayi’s arrival casts more doubt on Costa’s future at the club as his old team Atletico Madrid continue to talk up a move.
