Borussia Dortmund’s disastrous summer looks set to continue after the Mirror revealed that Henrik Mkhitaryan is edging closer to his dream move to Manchester United.
United have now made an improved bid of £28million plus add-ons after originally being knocked back when they had only put £19million on the table.
That is much closer to, though still slightly short of BVB’s valuation of £31million, but the Bundesliga club may be forced to sell in light of Mkhitaryan’s strong desire to join Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford.
The 27-year-old got an incredible 23 goals and 32 assists from the midfield last season, so super-agent Mino Raiola, who has also been dealing with Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s proposed move to United, is looking to negotiate a deal.
That deal seems to be getting closer and closer, with United fans keenly anticipating his signature.
The Armenian would bring something entirely new to the midfield, eradicating the Red Devils’ goalscoring problems and also sturdying up the middle.
Mourinho is expected to make his fair share of bids this summer, but this is quite possibly the most important if the deal goes ahead.
