Alexis Sanchez could be targeted by Juventus as they look to replace Alvaro Morata.
Real Madrid have activated their buy-back clause on Morata, as expected, bringing him to the Bernabeu for £23million before they sell him on at a profit this summer.
Juve are already thinking about who they can replace Morata with, and according to Sky Italia, brought to our attention by talkSport, Sanchez is one option they’re considering.
He’s certainly cheaper than other targets like Romelu Lukaku or Edinson Cavani and is also more consistent.
It would be particularly ironic if Morata ended up going to Arsenal, a move which has been speculated.
All the same, it would be nothing short of a disaster for the Gunners if Sanchez did leave.
The Chilean contributed 17 goals and 9 assists last season, and unless they bring in a really top striker, they are going to find that difficult to replace.
So much of Arsenal’s attacking play is centred around Sanchez that they would struggle without him, but the same is true of Juventus and Morata.
If it’s down to the player to make a decision, then he may be forced to consider where he is going to win silverware.
The Old Lady have won five Serie A titles in a row, whereas it’s twelve years since Arsenal came top of the Premier League.
Arsenal’s biggest hope might be that Sanchez will be put off by the expected exodus at Juve, with Morata having left, and French superstar Paul Pogba expected to go to either Manchester United or Real Madrid.
Yet, that could force Massimiliano Allegri to up the ante for Sanchez even more.
