Manchester City interested in Brazilian starlet

Manchester City have become the first Premier League club to make an official bid for Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus.

The youngster, who has been dubbed ‘the next Neymar’, is the subject of a £16.7million bid from Pep Guardiola’s side, according to the Manchester Evening News.

Guardiola is looking to boost his attacking options with Wilfried Bony and other back-up strikers set to depart.

19-year-old Gabriel, who is currently with Palmeiras, has attracted interest from several top clubs and even has a separate release clause should they come calling.

City, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid can all sign him for the lesser fee, whereas any other club would have to pay between £27-28million.

He is yet to make an international appearance for Brazil, but as his national side continue to struggle, it seems likely that that call isn’t too far away.

For the under-20s, he has scored five goals in six appearances, hence the interest from the likes of City.

City’s is believed to be the biggest bid made so far, so it will be up to the player to choose his destination – though at present, judging by his comments to Sport, he favours a move to the Nou Camp.
