Martin Skrtel is set to leave Liverpool after eight years on Merseyside.
The Daily Mail report that the Slovakian defender could be on his way to Fenerbahce in a £5million deal.
Skrtel only featured for the Reds at the end of the season because Mamadou Sakho was handed a short ban for a failed drugs test, but now that Sakho has been cleared to play again, it’s likely that he will take Skrtel’s place alongside Dejan Lovren in the centre of defence.
Youngster Joel Matip has also already signed, so it really looks like Skrtel has no future.
Klopp’s mind may have been made up following Skrtel’s questionable performance for Slovakia in their opening game against Wales.
His lack of discipline has been a problem for quite some time, and at 31, the likelihood is that Skrtel is not going to be able to quash that element of his game now, as he is also slowing down.
The defender has been a useful servant to Liverpool, but if they are to be transformed back into a top four side, they are going to need better quality at the back.
