Arsenal enter race for Mario Gotze – one Premier League club will be furious

Liverpool fans have started to question whether they will be signing Mario Gotze after all, as for a few weeks it has seemed that Bayern Munich would make a shock u-turn and keep him in the Bundesliga.

It will be a bitter pill for the Reds to swallow, however, when they learn that Arsenal are now ahead of them in the race to bring the World Cup winner to the Premier League.

That’s according to the Sun who believe that Arsene Wenger is ready to offer Bayern £27million for the diminutive forward.

The 24-year-old has been advised by Carlo Ancelotti, the new man in charge at the Allianz, to find a new club, as injuries meant that he did not really make much of an impact for them last season under Pep Guardiola.

Gotze’s injury record does raise the question of whether he’s the most suitable man for Arsenal.

Wenger is in such dire need of a striker because of Danny Welbeck’s problems on that front, so signing another invalid is perhaps not the best policy.

Jamie Vardy would arguably be a far better option, but it looks increasingly like the Leicester striker will turn them down.

Arsenal know they need to sign a striker either way, so there will be no relenting until they get one – and if it turns out to be Gotze, then Liverpool need to up the ante elsewhere pretty quickly.
