Manchester City are close to agreeing a deal for Spain and Celta Vigo winger Nolito.
According to The Sun, who are drawing from reports in Spain, Nolito is set to join Pep Guardiola at the Etihad and snub the City boss’ former club Barcelona.
Nolito is nowhere near as well known in England as he is in Spain, but he’s set to attract more global attention at the Euros, where he has earned a spot in Vincente del Bosque’s team.
While Tottenham were also interested, it seems somewhat strange that the midfielder, who scored 12 goals and got 7 assists last season, has picked City over Barca.
He spent part of his youth career with the Catalan club, so it was thought he would take the opportunity to finally make waves there under Luis Enrique.
What’s more, while he will have his work cut out to impress in the Premier League, he is already a big name in La Liga because of Celta Vigo’s unexpected achievements this season.
Instead, it seems he has opted for the big bucks of Man City, and that may be a trend that continues in this transfer window.
