Raheem Sterling should consider quitting Manchester City

Raheem Sterling must consider moving away from Manchester City if he is to resurrect his flailing career.

The England attacker joined the Citizens in a £49million deal from Liverpool, but it’s fair to say he has struggled to live up to that reputation.

And following England’s disappointing 1-1 draw with Russia, Sterling posted a picture on Instagram with the hashtag #TheHatedOne, a clear reference to the abuse directed at him online by disgruntled Three Lions fans.

Sterling’s sub-par performance in that game was emblematic of his fortunes since Christmas, and the one-time prodigy needs to consider whether leaving the Etihad would reignite his career.

At Liverpool, though he was helped by the presence of Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge, much of Liverpool’s attack went through him, but at City and now with England, he has often found it difficult to make one position his own.

The key question is whether anyone will come in for him. City would get nowhere near what they paid for him, but unless Pep Guardiola can really get the best out of him, it may well be best for him to cut his losses at the Etihad.

The muppet should have stayed at Liverpool, like everyone but his agent told him to. No sympathy from me.
