Jose Mourinho will sit down with Phil Jones to discuss whether the Manchester United defender has a future at the club, according to Goal.com.
Injuries limited Jones’ appearances under Louis van Gaal last season, but now van Gaal has been replaced by Mourinho, it remains to be seen whether he will reignite his career or be forced to move on.
The 24-year-old still has two years left on his current contract, but his future looks even more uncertain now that United have splashed out on Eric Bailly, who plays in the same position.
Dutchman Daley Blind is expected to leave this summer, but with Chris Smalling effectively having nailed down one of the places at centre-back, it is difficult to see where Jones would fit in.
It would be worth keeping the former Blackburn man because he is so versatile and can cover another of United’s weak positions at right-back.
The same source was unable to give any indication of whether Mourinho intends to keep Jones or not, but the meeting should finally clear up the confusion.
