Tottenham are planning a bid for promising young Roma striker Antonio Sanabria, according to talkSport.
The 20-year-old is an academy product from Barcelona but has most recently impressed on loan from Roma at Sporting Gijon, where he scored 11 goals last season.
Mauricio Pochettino reportedly rang Sanabria to tell him personally that Spurs would be making a bid.
Given Pochettino’s reputation for improving young players, Sanabria should definitely consider what he has to say.
The only problem for Sanabria is that he is far from the only striker Spurs are interested in.
They have been speaking to Holland forward Vincent Janssen and are also rumoured to be interested in either Shane Long of Southampton or West Brom’s Saido Berahino.
The Janssen deal is the closest of any to being completed, so Sanabria could just get left behind.
Of course, it remains to be seen whether Spurs want just one striker.
At the moment, they are looking at back-up for Harry Kane, but one may not be enough, particularly if Pochettino is planning to change his tactics and play two up front.
At 20, Sanabria may not feature heavily in the first team if he does join, but that doesn’t mean he can’t have a future at the club in years to come.
