Leicester may have found Jamie Vardy’s replacement

Jamie Vardy is weighing up his options over whether to stay at Leicester or move to Arsenal.

The Foxes are already considering his replacement, though, as it seems they are resigned to losing their top scorer.

And Watford’s Troy Deeney could be the man charged with filling Vardy’s shoes, according to The Independent.

The same paper has also suggested that Leicester could pursue the 27-year-old even if Vardy stays, as Claudio Ranieri likes the idea of them playing together.

Deeney had a fantastic season at Vicarage Road, scoring 13 times and creating 7 assists, and was even linked with an unlikely England call-up.

The big frontman would fit into Ranieri’s long-ball tactics, which makes him a suitable replacement for Vardy.

His detractors will say he has only been so successful of Watford because of his attacking partner, Odion Ighalo, but despite their direct brand of football, Leicester are not short of creative players.

If they can keep hold of Riyad Mahrez, which is admittedly optimistic, then Deeney should have no problem scoring goals for them next season.

While Deeney can look forward to the Champions League if he joins, Watford will have their work cut out to survive without him.
