Liverpool fans could hardly contain themselves when rumours started yesterday that Jurgen Klopp had been pictured with Gonzalo Higuain’s brother.

Some sources even suggested that Klopp had been watching the Argentina vs. Chile game and actually got up and left when Higuain was substituted.

But if that sounds a little far-fetched, it’s because it is.

The Liverpool Echo have finally quashed the Higuain to Liverpool rumours, with journalist Neil Jones revealing that he’s been told there’s “no truth” in the speculation.

That will come as a huge disappointment for the Reds, who need a new striker as they can’t rely on injury-riddled Daniel Sturridge.

Higuain is a big physical presence on the field, which would make him a good fit in the Premier League.

With Christian Benteke set to leave, he would also take his role as Liverpool’s battle-ram up front, albeit a slightly more talented version.

It would be his first time in England if it did happen as he has previously played for River Plate, Real Madrid, and now Napoli.

He’s playing the Copa America with his national side right now, but when that’s over – and if Napoli are willing to sell- Liverpool should certainly consider seeing what comes of a bid.
