Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is making it clear he isn’t planning a summer spending spree.

The Reds’ latest addition, 19-year-old Samuel Bastien from Anderlecht, is costing just €6million, as per 90min.com.

He joins Marko Grujic (20), Loris Karius (22) and Joel Matip (24), who have all committed to being at Anfield next season.

Klopp’s dedication to developing young players is admirable, but he may also want to delve into the market for some experience too.

Towards the end of the season, plenty of academy products were given their chance in the Premier League in order to rest the first team for the Europa League.

However, that did not always pay off.

If Liverpool really want to progress this season, Bastien will be a useful fringe player and can give Klopp further options in midfield.

The priority, however, should be signing an experienced left-back, with Alberto Moreno looking increasingly shaky.

Klopp’s principles may be noble, and that is not to rule out Bastien as a signing, but he will have to start spending some serious money if Liverpool are to be found anywhere near the top four next season.
