Borussia Dortmund manager, Thomas Tuchel, has admitted that he has no explanation to the trilling 4-3 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield last night.
Dortmund took a 2-0 lead in the space of 10 minutes to increase their advantage in the game, however the constant fight back of the Reds took the game to a different level when they came back strongly to clinch the winner in the 91 minutes.
Tuchel congratulated Liverpool for their dramatic comeback and making it to the semis and insisted he was out of his depth in the dug out at Anfield.
“I can’t explain it, it was not logical. It was very emotional. At the end at 3-3 everyone here believed it was meant to be, it was destiny,” Tuchel is quoted as speaking to BBC Sport.
“If you have such a strong belief then things can happen. We had a goal and we have not achieved it. Sport is about winning and we did not make it.
“You have to accept it and be an honorable loser so congratulations to Liverpool. You have to take defeat like a champion.”
Last night’s defeat is Dortmund’s first in 2016, ending an 18-match unbeaten streak in all competitions.
