According to reports by Sky Sports, Manchester City are in advanced talks with Borussia Dortmund over the signing of midfielder Ilkay Gundogan.
The two clubs are £8.1 million apart in the valuation of the player, but the English giants retain hopes of signing their man.
Pep Guardiola, who takes over the reins at the Etihad stadium has been monitoring Gundogan in the German Bundesliga and wants to unite with him next season in England.
City’s transfer chances have been boosted by Ilkay’s reluctance to renew his contract with the Dortmund – with his current deal expiring next summer.
According to Sky Sports, a meeting has been held in Amsterdam between the player’s uncle and agent, Ilkay Gundogan, and City Sporting Director Txiki Begiristain and could fast-forward the negotiations.
Gundogan has been a key player for Dortmund since his arrival at the club in 2011 and managed a goal in the 2013 Champions League final against Bayern Munich.
