Young star banned from Man United dressing room

Marcus Rashford

MARCUS RASHFORD may be the new darling of Old Trafford following his superb start to life in Manchester United’s first team, but the club have adopted some fairly bizarre methods to ensure his early success doesn’t go to his head.

Sunday People reports:

“Marcus Rashford is BANNED from the first team dressing room at Manchester United’s training ground.

“Incredibly, Rashford – and United’s other recent debutants including Guillermo Varela and Donald Love – are still using the Under-21 dressing room.

(quote continues below)

“Louis van Gaal wants the youngsters changing into their training kit with their own age group before making their way to the first team practice pitches.

“Surely Rashford and co are allowed to sit with the likes of David De Gea and Wayne Rooney for lunch?

Nope – Van Gaal, Ryan Giggs and academy chief Nicky Butt insist they have to eat with their development squad pals.”

That seems a rather extreme, not to mention unnecessary, measure to take.

Surely the youngsters have earned the right to be treated as an equal with their more established team-mates? And isn’t there something to be said for building team spirit and bonding together?

On the contrary, you’d think spending more time with the senior players would help keep the youngsters grounded, having someone around to pull them back in line if they did get a bit full of themselves.

It certainly smells like another of Louis van Gaal’s whacky decisions. It’s hard to imagine Giggs and Butt – both of whom burst onto the scene as part of United’s ‘Class of 92’ and didn’t suffer too much by enjoying a sandwich with the likes of Steve Bruce and Eric Cantona – being behind such a plan.

United fans, do you agree with Van Gaal’s approach?

Yes, 14 youngsters given a chance and they need to stay grounded and do the things there age group people do.
Lot of people are not able to cope with success at such early age e.g. Macheda, Morrison, Januzaj etc.

It is only good to grow and learn till the age of 20 atleast and then step up.
