Arsenal to use part of £138million warchest on 23-year-old striker – Report

Alvaro Morata

ARSENAL are believed to be prepared to spend big on Alvaro Morata this summer.

The 23-year-old Juventus striker was tracked by several clubs in the January transfer window, including the Gunners and Manchester United.

Reports last month suggested Juventus were worried Morata’s former club Real Madrid would take advantage of a buy-back clause to re-sign the forward just to sell him on for a profit.

However, Arsenal – who recently announced cash reserves of £138million – are rumoured to have upped their interest in Morata who has scored eight goals in all competitions for Juventus so far this season.

Spanish news outlet Okdia reports: “Morata has been earmarked as a potential target for the north London outfit who are expected to invest heavily in their squad at the end of the season.”

The report suggests Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has informed Real he is prepared to pay £50m for Morata’s services.

While he’d be signed with a view to becoming a regular starter straight away, Morata is also young enough to be classed as a player for the future, with his best years still ahead of him.

But Arsenal fans will no doubt be sceptical – they have heard this all before.

For the past few seasons their club has been linked with top-class strikers, only for the talk to be just that … talk.

Gunners fans, would Morata be a good signing?
