Man City “jewel in the crown” to resist Spanish giants

Aguero2

INCOMING Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has received a huge fillip before he’s even officially taken over at the Etihad with news gun striker Sergio Aguero is likely to sign a new contract at the club.

City are confident the Argentine superstar will accept the massive deal soon to be offered and resist the temptation of Spanish duo Real Madrid and Barcelona.

A top source said: “The club have a fantastic relationship with Sergio and they are confident he’s extremely happy at City.

“The personal relationships formed between key people at the club and Kun and his family are such that the club are very comfortable that no one can tempt him away.

“He is a vital player for the club and will be key in the future under Pep Guardiola.”

Augero – who currently earns about £150,000 per week with substantial bonuses on top of that – joined City four years ago in a £38million move from Atletico Madrid and was a key player in their Premier League triumphs in 2012 and 2014.

He is already committed to City until 2019 having signed a new long term deal just 18 months ago and any further extension would surely see the 27-year-old complete the best years of his career at the Premier League club.

In a squad full of dazzling talent, Aguero remains City’s jewel in the crown and were he to depart it would leave a gaping hole in the club’s attack.

It’s no secret he shares an extremely close friendship with Barcelona ace and fellow Argentinian Lionel Messi, while what would certainly be a final chance to play for Real Madrid would be difficult to knock back. But the prospect of playing under Guardiola and breaking new ground in achieving European success with City may be enough to convince him to stay.

How do City fans feel? Confident Aguero will stay? And is he irreplaceable at the Etihad?
