Report: Could Barcelona lose one of their better performers?

God deal?

There is a certain nobility about a manager who doesn’t come back to his old club to buy players. But, in the case of Pep Guardiola and Manchester City, they may end up doing Barcelona a favour.

Because Spanish media outlet AS reports (via BBC) that one of Pep’s first jobs when he moves to Manchester City in the summer could be to attempt to entice Barcelona’s Claudio Bravo to the club:

Guardiola is also keen to make a £30m summer move for Barcelona goalkeeper Claudio Bravo, 32. (AS – in Spanish)

Bravo has been a steady performer when called on ahead of Ter Stegen since joining Barcelona after a stunning World Cup in 2014 when he played in every game for his country and conceded just 4 goals. The Chilean has played 21 times for Barca in this campaign while his German teammate has guarded the net on 16 occasions. The veteran also played 37 times for the Catalans last term.

But £30m for a player who turns 33 in April would surely tempt many a Barcelona fan as it may well do the club itself.

Barca still don’t seem to have found a long-term successor to Victor Valdes, who departed the club in 2014 after 535 appearances and 12 glorious years in the first team. But £30m would certainly help them to bring in a young stopper who can grow into the gloves behind Ter Segen.

Let’s see some of Bravo’s better moments.

Barcelona fans: would you prefer to hold on to him or would that sort of money be too good to turn down?

Comment:That amount will be too mouth-watering for a 33 year old player. He can move to City and Barca can buy Kameni or any other promising keeper with a cut of that money. But, don’t think Guardiola can make such transfer for an almost a retiring player.
