Surely Manchester United won’t let another key player leave?

Some of the departures from Manchester United over the last couple of seasons have been questionable to say the least.

While United have struggled at left-back, Patrice Evra made his way to The Champions League final with Juventus after his move last season.

RvP and Chicharito’s goal threats have been sorely missed and although Danny Welbeck has been injured for much of this season, most United fans would have kept him, given the choice.

And now there is talk of Michael Carrick leaving the club.

The Manchester United legend – and that’s no overstatement – is out of contract in 5 months and various reports suggest on Sunday that he is prepared to listen to offers.

The Sun reports:

He is out of contract in five months — with clubs in the Premier League and abroad keen to tempt him away from United.

He may be 34 but he’s a very fit player who hasn’t had regular injuries in his career.

We think that he is, and can still be, a vital member of the team and squad.

And, having been through so much at Manchester United the club should the cherishing the experience that he can bring to the younger members of the squad.

In times of transition why would you get rid of your most trusted lieutenants? Just because he is reaching veteran status does not mean that he isn’t an important squad member. Indeed, he’s more important than ever as far as we can see and the club should hold on to him at all costs.

Carrick has played exactly 400 times for Manchester United with honours through the most successful period in the club’s history and scored 23 goals along the way.

He’s classy, dependable and hard-working. We have always been huge fans of the underrated star.
