They may not yet be the A-listers that Arsenal fans want to see joining the club this month to help with the title push.
But Arsene Wenger has always had a penchant for a talented young athlete and Sky Sports reports this afternoon that two are on Arsneal’s radar and are close to agreeing deals with the club. They say:
Arsenal are closing in on the signing of Nigerian U17 duo Kelechi Nwakali and Samuel Chukwueze.
The report states that the both of the players have drawn great interest from a variety of clubs since they starred for Nigeria at the U17 World Cup in Chile last year.
Nigeria went on to win the competition as they beat Mali 2-0 in the final with both starting the game and Nwakali captaining his ultimately victorious side.
Kelechi Nwakali is naturally an attacking midfielder but can also operate in a deeper role in the engine room. And Samuel Chukwueze is a left-footed player who tends to play on the right wing but has also regularly played in a more conventional position on the left side of the attack.
Let’s have a gander at Nwakali in action.
