Liverpool are, all of a sudden, facing something of an injury crisis at the back with Dejan Lovren the latest player to add to Jurgen Klopp’s defensive worries.
Th sense was that Liverpool would wait until the summer to make their moves in the market, after Klopp had had ample time to assess his squad.
But latest reports suggest that he’s trying to sign another centre back.
The Mirror states:
Jurgen Klopp is talking to former club Dortmund about centre-half Neven Subotic as he bids to shore up Liverpool’s injury stricken defence.
Subotic has been a regular starter for Borussia Dortmund since 2008 and played 244 times, scoring a creditable 17 goals in that period.
The 27 year old centre back has also had a decent career at international level with 36 caps and 2 goals since his debut for Serbia in 2009.
He’s a Steady Eddy of a player who we liken to Per Mertesacker – not the fastest player in the world but he reads the game well, has a good sense of positioning and won’t let Liverpool down.
And, at just 27, he could have a long career at Anfield.
Let’s have a look at him in action. Liverpool fans: a good solution to the current injury problems?
