There have been a flurry of rumours over the last few days about Arsenal making an attempt to sign the ex-Manchester United forward Javier Hernandez.
‘Chicharito’, as he is nicknamed, has been absolutely on fire since he joined Bayer Leverkusen from The Premier League in the summer and has so far scored 19 goals in just 26 outings.
That has led to rumours that Arsenal and other clubs may try to snare him in January. But the Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Voller is adamant that there will be no need to sell him in this window.
He is quoted by Sky Sports as saying:
“We are a football club and it is important that we are successful,”
“Chicharito has played a big part in our success so far, through his style of play, through his goals.
“That’s why we brought him here. In the first half of the season, everything has worked out fine.
“It’s easy to reject offers when you are in a position in which you don’t need to sell. We are in such a position. We will keep the players we want to help us achieve our goals.”
Arsenal have been linked with a host of strikers over the last few months and if they are going to win the title then they may well need some more depth in that department.
Frenchman, Olivier Giroud has been firing on all cylinders this season but, beyond him, Arsenal don’t have too many conventional number nines.
So we wouldn’t be at all surprised if The Gunners did make another attacking purchase this winter, as we feel that Arsenal need to buy a midfielder and a forward in the January window to keep their title push credible.
But if Arsenal do bring in another forward this month then it is now unlikely to be the Mexican.
