Manchester United are in turmoil and the mere fact that the top brass think that Louis van Goal is doing a good job should perhaps be the most worrying aspect of the situation.
Because, far from sacking him, many of the newspapers suggests last week that they had implored him to stay on at the club, despite his wish to leave.
But, if latest reports are to be believed then the Manchester United board may not be so bonkers after all. The Sun reports:
MANCHESTER UNITED stars believe Diego Simeone will be their new boss.
Jose Mourinho knocked back advances from Real Madrid to boost his chances of succeeding under-fire Louis van Gaal.
But several squad sources have independently told SunSport they think Atletico Madrid chief Simeone is front-runner to take over from LVG.
Firstly he has the passion that Manchester United fans like to see on the touchline, which Louis so patently lacks.
He’s a tactical genius whose Atletico side are level on points with Barcelona despite tiny resources in comparison to the European Champions.
And he has the drive to succeed at a club which wears its heart on its sleeve.
The only obvious drawback here is that Manchester United would definitely have to wait until the end of the season before such a change.
We would rather Jose stepped into the breach right now as Louis’s legs have gone. But Ryan Giggs would be another tasty option for 6 months.
Either way the signing of Simeone would be a great move for Manchester United.
