4-2-3-1: Arsenal’s Best XI vs Newcastle

Top on New Year’s Day? Despite a 4-0 humbling at Southampton?

With many to most of the other top teams struggling this season surely Arsenal can’t throw the title away this time?

Of course this sentiment is slightly tongue-in-cheek. Because Arsenal are famous for losing their nerve when it matters.

And, despite the troubles at Chelsea and Manchester United, City are only three points back and lurking menacingly. The Manchester outfit were our pre-season favourites for the tittle and they have big names to come back after injury.

So Arsenal simply have to win this home game against an improving Newcastle if they really want the title.

In truth, no team looks better in full flight than Arsene’s men right now and they have coped very well with their raft of injured midfielders.

With Wilshere, Rosicky, Arteta, Coquelin and Cazorla all out, Aaron Ramsey and Mathieu Flamini should anchor the midfield again.

And Joel Campbell has really come to the fore in the absence of Alexis Sanchez – what a fillip.

So, with all this in mind, here is our strongest Arsenal XI to take on Newcastle in a must win game for the title pretenders.
