Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool had an explosive start but the German’s time at the club has not been without teething troubles.
Liverpool once more look sublime in bursts but lack the consistency of an elite side. As such, we don’t quite know what to expect from this game.
And Sam Allardyce is the master of dragging points from games against high quality opponents – although Sunderland haven’t seen much of an upturn since he joined the club their new boss does offer them hope of Premier League consolidation come May and beyond.
But they need to improve against a Liverpool side which has many points of attack.
Liverpool will miss the drive of the injured James Milner from midfield and Daniel Sturridge is still being wrapped in cotton wool as he finds his fitness and resilience. But the likes of Roberto Firmino, Philippe Coutinho and Christian Benteke have more than enough firepower between them to do damage.
And we have also been very impressed by the fit again Jordan Ibe who offers great power and pace in the wide areas.
Sunderland will hope to get something but a top Liverpool performance should see them take the points.
