15 Goals in 20 Games: Manchester United prioritise the signing of goalscoring sensation – report

Lukaku - wanted man

Finisher needed

Manchester United have been linked with a move for the highly rated Belgian international Romelu Lukaku, according to European reports. The MEN says:

Reports in Italy suggest that United have turned their attention to a experienced Premier League striker – Romelu Lukaku.

The 6ft 3in Belgium international (42 caps, 11 gaols) has been a steady scorer for Everton since leaving Chelsea permanently in the summer of 2014. He has hit 51 in 101 games for The Toffees and a superb 15 in 20 appearances in all competitions the season, including 7 goals in 6 consecutive league games – a run which is threatening Jamie Vardy’s new record.

While Louis van Gaal set tongues wagging in the autumn by stating that Manchester United needed speedy wingers in order to complete the side, we feel that the greater need is for a centre forward – a top finisher.

Anthony Martial is a sublime talent but he can play just as well – perhaps even better – out wide. He has toyed with fullbacks at his leisure when he has played on the left and he will only get better out there with the space afforded him.

On the other side we still think that Memphis welcome good.

So perhaps a centre forward can make all these guys tick.

Let’s have a look at Lukaku in action.

Manchester United fans: is he the sort of striker who would suit the team?
